Netflix and publisher-producer Boom! Studios are working together to create a feature film adaptation of ‘Last Sons of America.’ The film is based on Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Matthew Dow Smith’s post-apocalyptic graphic novel.
Matt Reeves will also be producing, under his company 6th & Idaho. Reeves is responsible for ‘Cloverfield,’ as well as the second and third installments in the ‘Planets of the Apes’ trilogy: ‘Dawn’ and ‘War.’ He is currently writing, and will direct, ‘The Batman’ for Warner Bros. and DC.
Reeves and 6th & Idaho have a first look with Netflix. Meanwhile, 6th & Idaho and Boom! are in pre-production on Wes Ball’s ‘Mouse Guard.’ That film is from 20th Century Fox, where Boom! has a first look deal.
Peter Dinklage (‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War’) will star in the film, as well as produce.
The premise is below:
“Set in a not too distant future where Americans are no longer able to conceive and children have become a valuable commodity around the globe. In this world, brothers Jackie and Julian (Dinklage) operate as adoption agents in Colombia, securing deals with families willing to give their children up for a presumably better life in America. When the brothers suddenly find themselves with their backs against the wall, Jackie makes a grave mistake that sends them spiraling into a dark mystery at the root of their world’s status quo.”
Josh Mond (‘James White’) will not only direct, but also write the screenplay. Additional casting is in discussion.
There is no release date or filming start set as of now.
