In a series of announcements, it was revealed Netflix will be making a second season of ‘The Haunting of Hill House.’ However, it is now an anthology series, and the next season will center around a new story and new characters. The season will be ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor.’
This all began with the announcement that Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy made an overall deal with Netflix to develop and produce new projects. With that said, the first project will be a continuation of ‘The Haunting of Hill House,’ releasing next year.

Flanagan serves as creator, producer and director on the series, with Macy producing. Flanagan is becoming a juggernaut in the horror genre. His horror movie resume includes ‘Oculus,’ ‘Hush,’ ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil,’ and ‘Gerald’s Game.’
Then, after several guesses from fans on Twitter, the season title was given a proper reveal. From Flanagan himself: ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor.’
If this sounds familiar, that’s because it’s the setting of the novel ‘The Turn of the Screw.’ Therefore, the next season will adapt Henry James’ psychological gothic horror novella. This is in the same vein of the first season, where Shirley Jackson’s novel ‘The Haunting’ was the source material.
Meanwhile, the next film from the duo is the Warner Bros. film ‘Doctor Sleep.’ The movie is based on the sequel novel to Stephen King’s ‘The Shining.’ Flanagan wrote and directed the film, which stars Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson, and releases November 8.
