Sony is already building the next installment to their newest franchise: ‘Escape Room.’ The sequel will see the return of both director Adam Robitel (‘Insidious: The Last Key’) and writer Bragi F. Schut (‘Season of the Witch’).
This decision was a no-brainer as the first film has amassed $119 million off a budget of just $9 million. Taking cues from Blumhouse, they are wasting no time in getting together a second film.
The story of ‘Escape Room’ was from Schut, who co-wrote the screenplay with Maria Melnik. However, it seems Melnik is not returning. Additionally, the story of the sequel is being kept secure for the time being.
Further, ‘Escape Room 2’ even has a date locked in already. Sony will release the film on April 17, 2020.
