The webpage for this year’s Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards has a little reveal in it! ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ is the official title of the upcoming ‘Dora the Explorer’ feature film adaptation.
Isabela Moner (‘Sicario: Day of the Soldano,’ ‘Instant Family’) plays the titular character.
Moreover, the premise is below:
“Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents nothing could prepare Dora (Moner) for the most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a rag tag group of teens on an adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.”
The rest of the cast comprises of Jeffrey Wahlberg, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, Temuera Morrison, and Benicio del Toro.
Further, serving as director is James Bobin (‘Flight of the Conchords,’ ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’). Nicholas Stoller (‘Storks,’ ‘Captain Underpants’) is reuniting with Bobin for the screenplay, with the addition of Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (‘My Name Is Earl,’ ‘New Girl’). Stoller co-wrote ‘The Muppets’ and ‘Muppets: Most Wanted,’ while Bobin was the director of both, and co-writer of the latter.
Also, the Kids’ Choice Awards airs on Saturday, March 23, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT), so perhaps during the show will be when we get the first trailer!
Paramount will release the film on August 2nd.
