‘Irresistible,’ the sophomore film from actor-turned-director Jon Stewart, now includes Mackenzie Davis and Topher Grace in the cast.
Davis is popular for her roles in AMC’s ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ and Netflix’s ‘Black Mirror: San Junipero.’ Other credits include Ridley Scott’s ‘The Martian,’ Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Blade Runner 2049,’ and Jason Reitman’s ‘Tully.’ Next she has Tim Miller’s ‘Terminator: Dark Fate,’ releasing November 1st, and Floria Sigismondi’s ‘The Turning,’ releasing January 24, 2020.
Grace is (in)famous for his role in Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 3.’ He was recently in A24’s ‘Under the Silver Lake,’ Focus Features’ ‘BlacKkKlansman,’ and the Netflix anthology series ‘Love, Death + Robots.’ Next up is 20th Century Fox’s ‘Breakthrough,’ releasing April 17th, and Nat Geo’s ‘The Hot Zone,’ premiering May 27th.
Stewart is the former host of ‘The Daily Show,’ who left the Comedy Central series to pivot to directing. Then, in 2014, he made his feature film directorial debut with ‘Rosewater,’ starring Gael García Bernal.
Moreover, Steve Carell (‘The Office,’ ‘Vice’) will be playing the lead role in the political satire. Also, Rose Byrne (‘Bridesmaids,’ ‘Instant Family’) will play the cutthroat Republican counterpart of Carell’s character. She campaigns on behalf of the local, incumbent mayor.
The premise is below:
“A slick Democratic political consultant (Carell) helps a retired ex-Marine colonel veteran (Cooper) run for Mayor in a small, right-wing town in Wisconsin — which is, of course, a swing state.”
Further, the film is currently eyeing an April 22nd production start in Atlanta, Georgia.
Focus Features has not set a release date for the film as of now.
