The upcoming sequel to ‘A Quiet Place’ will now release March 20, 2020, up two months from the original May 15, 2020 date. Meanwhile, Andy Fickman’s ‘Playing with Fire’ has left the March 20th date, taking the recently departed November 8, 2019 slot (which was held by ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’).
Meanwhile, John Krasinski will be returning to direct the (currently untitled) sequel, just like the first time around.
But, Krasinski is not the only one returning, as his wife (both on-screen and in real life) Emily Blunt will reprise her role from the first movie. The capacity of Blunt’s role is unknown, as it could be anything from leading, supporting, to a cameo appearance. Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, who portrayed the children in the first film, will also return. (Their role capacities are also unknown.)
Additionally, Cillian Murphy (‘Free Fire,’ ‘Peaky Blinders’) is in talks to join the cast.
Krasinski’s screenplay is currently in progress, with Bryan Woods and Scott Peck also onboard to co-write the sequel. The duo wrote the original spec script for the first ‘A Quiet Place.’
It is possible, due to Krasinski’s tease on social media, that the sequel could have the title of ‘A Quiet Place: Part II.’ But as of now, we do not know.
Filming will begin July 8th in New York.
‘A Quiet Place 2’ is only up against Lionsgate’s ‘I Still Believe’ at the moment.
