The WarnerMedia streaming service is shaping up their original content with ‘Dune: The Sisterhood.’ Frank Herbert’s novel serves as the source material.

The series will co-exist with the ‘Dune’ cinematic universe in the works. This also include films, video games, digital content packages, and comic book series.

Denis Villeneuve (‘Arrival,’ ‘Blade Runner 2049’) will direct the pilot, while Jon Spaihts (‘Prometheus,’ ‘Doctor Strange’) serves as writer. There is no episode count yet.

Moreover, the premise of the spin-off series is below:

“The series is told through the eyes of a mysterious order of women known as the Bene Gesserit. Given extraordinary abilities by their mastery of the body and the mind, the Bene Gesserit expertly weave through the feudal politics and intrigue of The Imperium, pursuing plans of their own that will ultimately lead them to the enigmatic planet Arrakis, known to its inhabitants as Dune.”

Also, Villeneuve gave a comment on the series:

“The Bene Gesserit have always been fascinating to me. Focusing a series around that powerful order of women seemed not only relevant and inspiring but a dynamic setting for the television series.”

Meanwhile, Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ film adaptation is currently filming in Budapest, Hungary. The screenplay is by Villeneuve, Spaihts, and Eric Roth (‘Forrest Gump,’ ‘A Star is Born’).

The cast comprises of Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, David Dastmalchian, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Chang Chen, Stephen Henderson, and Zendaya.

Moreover, the premise of the film is below:

“Paul Atreides is a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding. “The Spice” is a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence, only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”

Warner Bros. and Legendary will release ‘Dune’ on November 20, 2020.

Further, there is currently no launch date for the ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’ series or the WarnerMedia service.
