‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Disney+ Miniseries Taps Writer Derek Kolstad (‘John Wick’)

Jul 10, 2019

The Marvel Studios and Disney+ limited series ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ now has Derek Kolstad in the writers room.

Kolstad is prominent for writing all three ‘John Wick’ films. He recently wrote ‘Booker’ for Sony, from director Gerard McMurray (‘The First Purge,’ ‘The Twilight Zone’). Additionally, he is developing Hulu’s ‘Hitman’ series and the films ‘Echo’ and ‘Just Cause,’ all based on video games. Further, his scripts for ‘The Man from Nowhere,’ ‘The Steward’ and ‘Nobody’ are in development.

Moreover, the show will be lead by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, reprising their roles as the titular characters. Also, two other actors will be making their return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Emily VanCamp is back as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, while Daniel Brühl will once again play Zemo.

Director Kari Skogland (‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ ‘The Punisher’) will helm the series. Malcolm Spellman (‘Our Family Wedding,’ ‘Empire’) is another writer onboard.

Below is a little taste of what the show will tackle:

“[Sam] accepting the shield from Captain America at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ will figure into the miniseries.”

Further, Ray Chan (‘Avengers: Endgame’) will serve as production designer.

Filming will begin this October in Atlanta, Georgia.

The miniseries will be six episodes long, and air August 2020, on the Disney+ streaming service.
