Marvel Studios has officially put ‘Thor 4’ into development, with Taika Waititi serving as writer and director. The ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ director returns to the franchise after helming 2017’s smash hit ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’
Moreover, Warner Bros.’ long-gestating ‘Akira’ live-action film is now on-hold until Waititi finishes ‘Thor 4.’
For television, he was the season finale director on the Star Wars Disney+ series ‘The Mandalorian,’ premiering November 12th. He directed 3 episodes of the FX series adaptation of his acclaimed film ‘What We Do in the Shadows.’ Lastly, he is co-writing and directing the pilot of Apple’s television series adaptation of ‘Time Bandits.’
Based on how ‘Avengers: Endgame’ ended, spoiler alert, Thor becomes a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy. So, it would make sense Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Vin Diesel join Chris Hemsworth in this fourth film.
Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce the release date. However, it will likely take the November 5, 2021 spot previously slated by Disney.
