Jon Favreau will direct an episode of ‘The Mandalorian’ season two, the first live-action ‘Star Wars’ series. He also serves as creator, writer, and showrunner.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Favreau was able to reveal the news:
“We’re working on season 2, writing, prepping with the directors and getting ready to direct myself, actually. I didn’t get a chance the last time around because I was doing ‘Lion King.’ So I’ll step in for one of them.”
Favreau recently directed two Disney remakes: ‘The Jungle Book’ and ‘The Lion King.’ He also kick-started the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Iron Man 2.’ Other credits include New Line’s ‘Elf’ and Columbia’s ‘Zathura,’ as well as Open Road’s ‘Chef’ and its Netflix spin-off ‘The Chef Show.’
Moreover, the premise is below:
“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. ‘The Mandalorian’ is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic….”
Meanwhile, here are the directors, and their episodes, of the first season:
- Dave Filoni (‘Avatar: The Last Airbender,’ ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’) for Episodes 1 and 5
- Rick Famuyiwa (‘Dope,’ ‘The Chi’) for Episodes 2 and 6
- Deborah Chow (‘Mr. Robot,’ ‘American Gods’) for Episodes 3 and 7
- Bryce Dallas Howard (‘Solemates,’ ‘Dads’) for Episode 4
- Taika Waititi (‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople,’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’) for Episode 8
The cast comprises of Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Bill Burr, Julia Jones, Carl Weathers, Taika Waititi, Ming-Na Wen, and Werner Herzog. Jon Favreau and Bryce Dallas Howard may have acting roles in the show as well.
Further, the second season is looking to film as early as October 7th.
‘The Mandalorian’ will premiere its first season on November 12th, when the Disney+ streaming service launches.
