In a move that should not surprise anyone, Warner Bros. has decided to move around several movies in their film schedule. Some movies have been delayed, while one is actually set to come out earlier!
While ‘The Batman’ was originally scheduled to open on June 25 2021, it has been moved to October 1, 2021. ‘The Flash’ has actually been advanced by a month, it will now be debuting on June 3, 2022, instead of July 1, 2022. ‘Shazam! 2’ which was set to debut on April 1, 2022, will now be released on November 4, 2022.
Furthermore, to accommodate for ‘The Batman,’ the untitled Elvis Presley biopic starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks has now been pushed a month to November 5, 2021, originally set for October 1, 2022. The prequel to ‘The Sopranos’ titled ‘The Many Saints of Newark’ was set to debut on September 25, 2020, but it has now been moved to March 12, 2021. The Serena and Venus Williams biopic ‘King Richard,’ starring Will Smith, will now be released on November 19, 2021, a full year delay out of November 25th this year.
Previously, Warner Bros had an untitled movie scheduled on April 16, 2021. It has now been revealed that the untitled feature film in question is actually Lisa Joy’s ‘Reminiscence,’ starring Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson.
The only movie that currently does not have a date is the untitled Fred Hampton biopic. The previously titled ‘Jesus is My Homeboy’ was going to release on August 21st of this year.
Warner Bros is not the first entertainment conglomerate to mess with their release schedule. Paramount and Disney did the same with movies like ‘Black Widow,’ ‘Mulan,’ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ These date changes are all due to the coronavirus shutdown.
