For the world’s fastest speedster, the first feature film adaptation of The Flash has taken an abnormally long time to get off the ground, and according to our friends at Illuminerdi the Scarlett Speedster may have hit yet another road bump.
Kiersey Clemons was initially cast in the role of journalist Iris West in the summer of 2016, or 2 directors ago in Flash terms. Since then, the picture has gone through a tumultuous time behind the scenes, including a revolving door of directors and screen-writers, at one point even including film star Ezra Miller penning the film himself with comics legend Grant Morrison. With “Birds of Prey” writer Christina Hodson currently writing, and “It” director Andy Muschietti behind the lens, it seems that one cast member not returning is Clemons. A recent casting call has indicated that WB is looking for “an actress 21-25 years old” to portray the 23 year old Iris, described as having the “fashion sense of Carrie Bradshaw and the smarts of Christiane Amanpour.”
Clemons had shot scenes for Justice League which were eventually left on the cutting room floor. The Flash races its way into cinemas June 2, 2022.
