Amazon and Bethesda have teased a ‘Fallout’ project in production. Via their Amazon Studios and Fallout accounts on Twitter both companies simultaneously released a 23-second teaser. The teaser flashes the logos of Amazon Original, Kilter Films, and Bethesda Game Studios on a retro-style television before a static interruption ends it with the message “Please Stand By.” Reflected in the screen of the television are two yellow-white lights, reminiscent of eyes watching the broadcast. The audio features what seems to be a chorus of singing children and a distorted adult voice, followed by a shrill whir when the static interruption begins.
Following on from the video both accounts link to a post on Bethesda’s website – ‘KILTER FILMS TEAMS WITH AMAZON STUDIOS TO DEVELOP SERIES BASED ON FALLOUT’:
Amazon Studios has licensed the rights to the worldwide best-selling game franchise Fallout, with acclaimed producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Kilter Films attached to produce the project, currently in development with a series commitment.

The ‘Fallout’ games are a series spanning over 20 years, the first game being released in 1997 with the most recent addition ‘Fallout 76’ being released in 2018. There are 8 games in the main series, all of which are available on PC as well as some being multi-platform and available on PlayStation and Xbox devices. The ‘Fallout’ franchise takes place in a dystopian future ranging around the years 2100-2300 following a nuclear event destroying the world in the 1950s. The games feature a retro-style appearance inspired by 50s-era design, and are notable in pop culture through the game’s mascot Pip-Boy and the fictional beverage company Nuka Cola whose bottlecaps make up the currency of the franchise’s wasteland.
Kilter Films is a production company known for their work on the Emmy-nominated HBO series ‘Westworld,’ and are currently working on the Amazon Original series ‘The Peripheral’ which is based on the book by William Gibson. Screenwriters Jonathan Nolan (‘Westworld,’ ‘Interstellar’) and Lisa Joy (‘Westworld,’ ‘Pushing Daisies’) have been attached to Kilter Films’s production of the Fallout series.
