Who will play a game? That’s what The Green Knight wants to know, and from the way Dan Mora has so brilliantly illustrated him and the opening scene, we know he’s not messing around. Once and Future #14 picks right up from where the last issue ended — lots of blood and heads flying around like baseballs. The first few pages are definitely some of the most viscous Mora has drawn — and frankly, I’m here for all of it.

Gillen is weaving a very complicated story, one that can get a little confusing for not just the readers, but also the characters within the story. This muddling of stories is starting to present unforeseen consequences that our protagonists are no longer able to foresee. In the beginning, this was just a tale about King Arthur. It has become so much more since then.

Visually, Once and Future #14 is stunning, and when you combine that with Kieron Gillen’s storytelling, you’ve got one of the better issues of the series.

(WARNING: Spoilers for Once and Future #14 ahead.)

Well we now know who will play a game with The Green Knight. With Rose deciding to bury an Axe into his skull, we know just how deeply involved her character will be moving forward. Knowing The Green Knight can strike back at any given moment elevates this story and Rose to a new level.

There was a brief point in time when I felt this series needed to wrap up. After reading Once and Future #14, I now feel like the story is just getting started — and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
