Nothing, and I mean nothing beats a good mystery. Combine that with the world of Batman and the ever evolving character of Harley Quinn, and we continue to get a home run of a series. Like any good mystery, the story is not linear – there are twists and turns along the way, and Batman: White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn #3 continues to do a great job of keeping readers on their toes.
We see more humanization of Harley Quinn in this issue, something this series has been tremendous at. Harley is all in on this case as it becomes a path of redemption for her. Yet she is still struggling as a single mother and finding that work/life balance hasn’t been easy. We get a great example of this when she gets flak for bringing her young children to a crime scene as they nap on her pet hyenas.
However what we also continue to get, is the great mystery unfolding before our eyes. Our antagonists have had their first slip up, and it is revealed that this is a story of revenge. While we may have gotten the “names” of our antagonists in the last issue, we still don’t know exactly who they are – but at least we are starting to get a clearer picture of their motives.
Katana Collins has done a great job so far leaving bread crumbs for the readers to pick up, page to page, book to book. As issue #3 unfolds two of our main characters are of differing opinions on who to trust. The reveal at the end of the issue shows us who’s opinion was on the nose.
Batman: White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn #4 cannot come out fast enough as it is quickly becoming not just a must read, but one of my favorite books currently running.
