Future State: Gotham #3
DC Comics
Written by: Joshua Williamson and Dennis Culver
Art by: Giannis Milonogiannis

Joshua Williamson and Dennis Culver’s has been consistent throughout Future State: Gotham. The same can be said of Giannis Milonogiannis’ artwork. But, the lack of color in this series continues to be a distraction. With Future State: Gotham #3 featuring more fight scenes, the lack of color becomes more noticeable.
Even though I’m disappointed with the decision to omit colors beyond black and white in this book, the team involved has done well to ensure this is still a good read for Red Hood fans. I could go either way on Chip Zdarsky or Williamson and Culver taking control of Red Hood beyond their respective books. I seem to flip-flop issue to issue, but it’s a good problem for DC to have right now.
Perhaps the reason I’m leaning toward the duo of Williamson and Culver is that following the events of Future State: Gotham #3, they’ve put Red Hood on a collision course with one of the newer DC characters who has a lot of potential.
It’s a shame the lack of color in Future State: Gotham has been such a distraction. Williamson, Culver and Milonogiannis have a great feel for the character.
(WARNING: Spoilers for Future State: Gotham #3 ahead.)
We keep getting more and more action with each issue of Future State: Gotham. While that’s great in some ways, those are also the panels where I notice the lack of color most. But enough about that;I think I’ve more than made my point there.
Seeing Punchline thrown in the mix is very promising for the direction of this series. She has loads of potential, and now we see she may force another DC character into the mix — one we’re all a little more familiar with. Seems like things are only getting more and more complicated for Red Hood, which is great for readers.
