This issue is titled Betrayals, which is a fitting title in more than the obvious ways. Darkseid is finally free and rightfully claims his throne on Apokolips. He does so with the help of Barda betraying Fury in issue #11. Helena is still in a rampage due to Desaad’s tampering, but Power Girl won’t let her best friend be taken over so easily. Batman and crew have found the original Clark Kent and are tracking down Desaad, finding him and more than they bargained for. Flash runs into trouble and Green Lantern and the other elements of power are fighting the Furies of Apokolips with everything they have. This issue ends with a pretty nasty cliffhanger!

EARTHWE-12-2-0c345There are different writers for each perspective in this story but they all mesh together pretty well. Each story feels separate, and in this issue you only get a few panels of some parts, like Batman’s crew, whereas the panels with Dick Grayson, Sato and Miracle Master take up a lot of this issue. So I’d guess that some of the writers listed didn’t get to write a lot on their assigned parts of the story, but you got to see a little bit of each team. The art in this book is always great. These artists get to draw some very long established characters in a whole new way since they’re drawing Earth 2, but they also get to draw different versions of the world as well.

This is a pretty crazy and dire series. It kind of has the same feel as The Walking Dead or Injustice, in how hopeless their situation feels. They haven’t lost all hope, as Constantine from Earth 1 is their doing stuff, and Clark Kent is now back alive, but it still feels a bit crazy. I am really enjoying this book the more I read it.
