The Boys is the break-out show on Amazon Prime. Meanwhile, it has almost been a year since we last saw Butcher and the Boys do battle with The Seven. Feels like forever. With season 3 pushed back due to the Covid pandemic, we still have to wait a while longer. There is no official release date for the 3rd outing of the series but all things indicate late 2021 to an early 2022 release window. Luckily for us, Amazon has blessed us with a video series called ” Seven on 7 on VNN (Vought News Network)”. Airing a new episode on the 7th of every month, with VNN anchor man Cameron Coleman. It gives us seven stories with a commercial. This tells the stories of what is happening in the world of The Boys. You can have a look for your selves here.
A brief description:
The cultivated world of The Boys shows us exactly what mankind will become should we ever have super abilities. Yes, they push the limits as far as possible without turning it into a senseless gorefest. Each death, every gruesome scene propels the show forward.
In season 1, the most striking moment was when the speedster of The Seven (A-Train) accidentally ran into Robin. Leaving a bloody mess all over the pavement; imagine a cave painting. After that brutal scene, Season 2 showcased what a speed boat will do to a giant whale when rammed into it at full speed. And apparently, they are upping the ante with season 3. How? Well with new supes and Herogasm, this might be the most controversial series or season ever made.
What we actually know so far:
In short for now, we know the following. Herogasm is going to happen. What is Herogasm to put it simply it is a sort of holiday for all supes. This is not a family-friendly holiday, this is a massive orgy. You can read the explicit novel if you dare. It seems that the superhero group Payback will be introduced, whether this will be an active lineup or just a reference is not known. Victoria Nueman`s arc should continue. As we see, Hughie takes a job working for the congresswoman by the end of season 2 . Stormfront is not dead, will she be in the new season? We have no confirmation yet.
New additions to the cast:
Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) will be introduced as Soldier Boy, a World War II-era supe. Soldier Boy’s abilities include superhuman strength and speed. He is said to be Homelander before Homelander was Homelander. Therefore, expect a truly violent, brutal psychopath. There will be ties between Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
Lauren Holden (The Walking Dead) will take up the role of the Crimson Countess, a parody of Scarlet Which. Her abilities include Heat Vision, Fire manipulation, and Heat manipulation.
Sean Patrick Flanery (Boondock Saints) will take up the mantle of Gunpowder. The NRA- sponsored supe from Teenage Kix, an up-and-coming group of superheroes in the comics. His powers include Muzzle energy manipulation, marksmanship, and weapon manifestation.
The addition of two original characters was created specifically for the show. Blue Hawk and Supersonic, Nick Wechsler (Roswell) and Miles Gaston Villanueva (Nancy Drew) respectively. The role of Little Nina went to Katia Winter (Dexter) a Russian Mob boss from the comics.
The originals will return:
The original cast will return for the 3rd season The Boys: Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Laz Alonso (Mother`s Milk), Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko), and Tomer Kapon (Frenchie). The Seven, Antony Star (Homelander), Erin Moriarty (Starlight), Chace Crawford (The Deep), Jesse T. Usher (A-Train), Dominique McElligot (Queen Maeve), and Nate Mitchell (Black Noir).
Personally, I cannot wait for this to finally hit screens. With the new additions to the superheroes ranks and the inclusion of Little Nina, the anticipated 3rd season will be pushing the boundaries even further. This is just speculation, but Gunpowder could join Congresswoman Neuman’s side. Supersonic (sounds like a speedster) could possibly be the replacement for Shockwave as The Seven is without a speedster at the moment due to Shockwave’s head splattering incident at the end of season 2. Stormfront will probably be replaced by Crimson Countess
