Gunslinger Spawn #3
Brett Booth and Adelso Corona are an amazing pairing of artists. You don’t need me to tell you that, but I feel compelled to share that after every issue of Gunslinger Spawn. Their work on the story’s title character — who we learn a few things about in Gunslinger Spawn #3 — is some of the best work you’ll see from any monthly comic. Which isn’t to say their work on the other characters isn’t as good, but Gunslinger Spawn has one of the best looks in all of comics. And, of course, the action — which continues to drive this series — is top-notch, as well.

Speaking of badass-looking characters, Gunslinger Spawn #3 introduces us to a new character, who will cause some problems for Gunslinger. Tons of potential — and I wouldn’t be shocked if Todd McFarlane eventually makes a toy for this character, too. But with the new character, readers also see an old one enter the fray. While I’m more interested in the new character, I do wonder what this older character’s dynamic with Gunslinger Spawn is like.
Now, I will say the pacing on this book seemed a bit odd. On one end, there are some significant developments. On the other, things are moving a bit slowly. With the art driving this story above all else, that’s bound to happen here and there. Still, a rock-solid issue, and I can’t wait to see more from the new character McFarlane and company introduced in Gunslinger Spawn #3.
