Overview
Apple has shortened its Siri wake word from “Hey Siri” to just “Siri” as part of the updated features for iOS 17, according to the tech giant. The change is aimed at speeding up Siri’s responses to requests. The plan has been in the works since last year, with Siri needing to know when to activate with just two syllables while limiting accidental awakenings. Apple’s condensed wake word is set to arrive in September with iOS 17. Other features in the update include automatically transcribing voicemails, better autocorrect and predictive typing, and voice as an input option for a forthcoming virtual reality headset.
