Paris-based Mistral AI has raised $113m in a seed funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. The generative AI start-up, which came out of stealth last month, has plans for publishing open-source large language models and generative AI tools for enterprise next year. The company, which was founded by former Meta and Google DeepMind artificial intelligence (AI) developers, has ambitions to rival Google and OpenAI in developing and training large language models for enterprise generative AI projects. Mistral’s training approach uses public domain data to avoid legal and ethical issues.
