Google’s Conversational AI Bard cites brands more often in search results than OpenAI’s ChatGPT: Report

Overview

Roast, a UK-based marketing agency, has found that Google’s conversational generative AI, Bard, names specific brands in search results much more often than OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT. In the test, 43.2% of Bard’s responses mentioned brands in answer to queries about travelling in the UK, compared to just 14.4% of ChatGPT’s responses. While Bard’s responses tended to be more detailed than ChatGPT’s, neither chatbot could answer every question. The findings suggest that brand owners should undertake a Search Generative Experience audit and develop a strategy to increase their visibility in these results.
