In an interview with GWW, comic book writer and novelist Dan Abnett hinted that he has been hard at work writing Orc dialogue for the sequel to Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. As he spoke about his work on Alien: Isolation and Shadow of Mordor – particularly the Nemesis system dialogue – Abnett shared this fun little tidbit of breaking news:
“I don’t think I’m breaking any NDA’s to say that I’m doing a bit more of that on an even bigger scale for a very similar game that might be the sequel.”
It’s not exactly surprising to hear that a sequel is in development, as Monolith Productions’ Mordor practically ran the gamut of Game of the Year awards in 2015. Furthermore, it’s based in the Lord of the Rings universe, which is deep with lore and rich with fantastic characters.
Granted, Abnett said it “might” be a sequel. Whether it’s a continuation of Shadow of Mordor remains to be seen, but for the time being, it looks as though we’ll be heading back into Middle Earth for hopefully more Orc subjugation and domination. And with a “bigger scale” being talked about, perhaps this means that the Nemesis system will affect more than just the power struggle of Mordor.
