Chris Pirri’s Top 30 Horror Movies: #26 Phantasm

Oct 6, 2015

Its October and that means Halloween is almost here. In honor of my favorite holiday of the year I give to you my top thirty horror movies. Now some of these films might be on every list, but some might not. I might even have a film or two that you have never heard of. Just remember this is my top thirty. In other words these films made me cringe or just sent chills up my spine. So with no further ado here is my list.

# 26
Phantasm (1979)
Directed by: Don Coscareli

Phatasm1

This is a movie you will either love or hate. I of course love it. It is a cult classic and some of you may have never even heard of it. Well its time for you to see it and decide for yourself. In Phantasm it seems that people are mysteriously dying in a small town. Two brothers find out that it may all link back to the man they dub “The Tall Man”. The Tall Man played by Angus Scrimm is just plain creepy, scary and evil. Throw in that he is the undertaker of the town, and uses a sinister sphere that violently and grotesquely drains its victims of their blood and you have one horrifying monster. A villian that will give you goose bumps and nightmares for days to come.

Where most people tend to write this movie off is the ending. Let’s say there is an alternate universe involved with killer dwarves who are slaves, its very weird. But For a very low budget movie it does the job of making my list. Mortuaries and graveyards are already a frightening place. So I’m sure the next time you happen to be wondering a graveyard this movie will enter your thoughts. It will make you think about what is on the other side of that door.
