It’s October and that means Halloween is almost here. In honor of my favorite holiday of the year I give to you my top thirty horror movies. Now some of these films might be on every list, but some might not. I might even have a film or two that you have never heard of. Just remember this is my top thirty. In other words these films made me cringe or just sent chills up my spine. So with no further ado here is my list.

# 10
The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
Directed by: Drew Goddard

This is a horror tale with a great futuristic outlook. Everything Joss Whedon touches is an instant classic and Cabin in the Woods is no exception. Just the title alone brings images of an old time slasher flick. If that is what you are thinking that’s what this movie is prepare to be completely bamboozled.

Five friends head up to an isolated cabin in the woods for a weekend of debauchery. Typical high school kids having fun with no adult supervision what so ever. Until the cellar doors suddenly open. Of course you and I would get back in the car and head back home. These kids decide to see what is down there. The things down in this cellar will captivate and intrigue you. Old fashioned relics and knick-knacks that seem to have the kids gravitate to them. Then one kid opens a book and starts to read from it. This begins all the madness and horrific scenarios that are about to befall these unsuspecting teens.

I purposely left out some of the plot for this movie. This is a movie you will need to see and experience firsthand. However I will say keep your eyes wide open for all the little Easter eggs and head nods to the horror films of the past. Cabin in the Woods is a must see reinvention of classic horror movie troupes. This one is sure to become in instant horror classic for any fan of the genre.
