Halloween has now come and gone but we are still honoring my favorite holiday of the year. I give to you my top thirty horror movies. Now some of these films might be on every list, but some might not. I might even have a film or two that you have never heard of. Just remember this is my top thirty. In other words these films made me cringe or just sent chills up my spine. So with no further ado here is my list.
# 3
Alien (1979)
Directed By: Ridley Scott
What goes great with any horror movie? The answer, outer space. Take the unknown of space and add a very freighting bizarre creature and you have an instant horror classic in Alien. It also helps that you have an amazing director and an actress who can carry the film all by herself. Sigourney Weaver does an excellent job and is very believable fighting this frightening alien.
The crew aboard the star ship Nostromo, is heading home when they receive a SOS signal from a planet. Once they approach the planet they find a spaceship that is deserted except for a thousand eggs. One of the members of the team gets a little too close to an egg and the embryo inside of it attacks him. Once aboard their ship they try to help their fallen comrade and rescue him from the parasite.
Little do they know it is to late and it has already impregnated the host. Once it explodes from his body the members of the Nostromo become the prey in an all-out battle to survive.
This film has gone on to create many more great sequels and even an okay prequel called Prometheus. This is a must see movie and even a movie that you should have in your collection. The movie poster says it all “In space no one can hear you scream”.
