As part of #DCRebirth, Batgirl will be going through a few changes. The standalone series currently written by Cameron Stewart and artwork from Babs Tarr will be taken over by writer Hope Larson and artist Rafael Albuquerque.
While I loved Babs Tarr’s work, I fully trust my favorite heroine in the hands of the extraordinary Rafael Albuquerque. Albuquerque is known for his work in American Vampire, Blue Beetle, and Batman.
In the new run, Batgirl will be leaving Burnside and travels to Asia as she takes a journey of self-discovery.
Meanwhile, It appears this won’t be the only time we’ll get to see Batgirl. DC Comics has also announced a new Birds of Prey book from The 100 writers Julie Benson and Shawna Benson. The series will bring together Batgirl, The Huntress and Black Canary and will include some new looks on the characters.
The new Batgirl run is set to kick-off in July, while Birds of Prey is coming in August. What do you think of the new team(s) or the direction they are going with for Batgirl?
