On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel premiered the trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed starring Michael Fassbender. The trailer shows off a lot of high flying stunts, as well as the inclusion of Abstergo and a look at another assassin.
Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender), a descendant of the mysterious secret society the Assassins, must use his deadly skills to battle the powerful Templar organization.
The film is based on the popular video game series from Ubisoft which shares the same title. The film appears to take place in the same universe, however, the film will introduce brand new characters.
“Welcome to the Spanish Inquisition”
Personally, this first trailer wasn’t as successful at grabbing my attention the way some of the first couple of games have. I think the music they chose was the cause of this. It seemed out of place. If you want the perfect example of the right type of music to use to represent a great series like Assassin’s Creed, may I direct you to the 2011 AC: Revelations trailer where featuring Woodkid’s “Iron”. I’ll try not to let the music they chose for a trailer affect my thoughts on the actual footage. A lot of the popular aspects from the games were shown. I did love the inclusion of a female assassin, which we began to see in the later games. Also, the shot of the eagle circling the tower was beautifully done. I’d love to see more of Abstergo. I did find myself searching for randomly placed haystacks throughout the trailer.
What are your thoughts on the trailer?
