In 1981, writer and director John Landis (Coming to America, The Blues Brothers) crafted one of the best horror movies of the last thirty years with An American Werewolf in London. The film not only found a way to masterfully combine both horror and comedy, but it was a milestone in special effects thanks to the master Rick Baker. The film was a box office success and changed the genre of horror. Naturally, a remake has been announced.
Deadline is reporting that Universal is bringing a new version of the classic film to the big screen with John Landis as Executive Producer along with The Walking Dead‘s David Alper and Robert Kirkman. Landis’ son, writer/director Max Landis (Chronicle/ American Ultra), has been tapped to write and direct the remake which is expected to come out around the 35th Anniversary of the original movie. Here’s hoping David Naughton, Griffin Dunne and Jenny Agutter all get calls to cameo.
