In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit to you, dear reader, that many of the pages of this series were read while doing bad impressions of Kurt Russell. Unfortunately, you cannot read a story about Ol’ Jack Burton traveling the post-apocalyptic wasteland with Snake Plissken and not go into full Russell overload. I got the first issue of this mini-series with my Loot Crate and could not put it down. Both of these iconic characters in the same book are a recipe for comedy, action and thrills.

In issue 3 Jack Burton and the Pork Chop Express are truckin’ through the American wasteland with some new friends trying to protect them from a band of marauders. By his side is criminal/mercenary and resident bad ass Snake Plisskin who is becoming increasingly annoyed at Jack’s personality and the fact that people keep mistaking them for each other. Their mutual trek is further hampered by the reappearance of Lo Pan and an army of Snake Plisskin’s from parallel universes.

This book and series is just a fun read with every issue. Greg Pak has really captured the essence of John Carpenter’s characters and how they would react to one another and David Bayliss’ artwork is gritty and vibrant, showing a well rendered difference between Snake and Jack. I love this series from its inception and continue to be impressed with its execution.

Big Trouble in Little China Escape From New York #3 is continually engaging and hilarious story that pays due respect to Carpenter’s characters and artwork that is gritty, vibrant and playful.
