Jan 6, 2017

It’s fair to say that 2016 had its own share of great films. In case you missed it, you can watch the 2016 movies I think are the best right here. However, 2017 is finally here, and it’s full of movie posters and trailers that have this year looking incredibly promising. So let’s go over ten of those movies and see what the future holds!
If you’d prefer to watch, rather than read, feel free to check out the video below.

 John Wick: Chapter 2 (February 10, 2017)

No one would’ve expected John Wick to be as good as it was. Heck, some people probably still haven’t seen it yet. If you haven’t, I’d strongly recommend it. The film’s garnered a strong cult following and for good reason. It’ll be fun to see how Keanu Reeves can top the previously intense gun-fu action flick. Check out the intense trailer for John Wick 2!

Logan (March 3, 2017)

The previous Wolverine solo movies have had some mixed reactions from fans in the past. Some good, and some bad. But this time around, there’s a couple of things to be hopeful for. James Mangold is returning as the director, and this time around, we’re FINALLY getting a rated R version. Fans have been waiting for Wolverine to finally be unleashed, and it sounds like we’ll get what we’ve been waiting for. Luckily, we’ve got a trailer to feast our eyes on.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017)

The previous Guardians of the Galaxy was nothing short of a success. People loved the amount of fun humor and sci-fi adventure that it brought to the table. Judging by the trailer, it seems like a no-brainer that we’ll be in store for the same treatment. Not to mention we get baby Groot. I mean look at that face! This trailer was great!

Wonder Woman (June 2, 2017)

One of the best highlights of Batman v Superman was Wonder Woman. She came, she saw, and she conquered! Now we get to see her in her very first live action debut in a solo film. I mean this is huge! This will also be the first-ever female-led AND directed superhero movie of the modern era. This film could not only be really good, but it could also be a major door opener for women in film. Either way, this trailer creates the need for June to hurry up and come sooner.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (June 16, 2017)

Kingsman: The Secret Service was an unexpected and fun hit movie. With director Mathew Vaughn and most of the cast returning, it’s hard to believe that this sequel won’t also be a blast. Oh, and Channing Tatum will be joining the cast as well.
One of the screenwriters has said that this film is going to be crazier than the previous film. I don’t know what that means, but I’m sold. Unfortunately there aren’t any trailers posted for this yet, but there’s hope that this should still be good.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 7, 2017)

Well if the Captain America: Civil War cameo wasn’t enough to sell you on the upcoming Spider-Man film, I don’t know what else will. Marvel and Sony have partnered up to redo Spider-Man and the best part about it is that he’s now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What does that mean? That means Spider-Man can not only have his own films, but he can interact and team up with other well known superheros like Iron Man. The doors of awesomeness have just flung wide open! Check out this excellent concept art and trailer below.

War for the Planet of the Apes (July 14, 2017)

We get the third installment of this franchise and get a peek at how the tensions between humans and apes reach its pique. All of the previous Planet of the Apes films were able to raise the bar a notch, and this installment doesn’t seem to be an exception. It’s all out war and this trailer proves it!

Thor: Ragnarok (November 3, 2017)

Alright, let’s be honest. The previous Thor films may not have knocked many socks off, but here’s what makes this one different. We’re going to have way more of the Hulk!
Fans have begging for a solo Hulk film, and despite contract issues, this is probably going to be as close as we’re going to get. While it may not be exactly what people want, I do think that there will be more than enough in store for us to make this film a success. Unfortunately, there isn’t a trailer released of yet, but below is some concept art of the film with apparently Cate Blanchett’s villainous character.

Justice League (November 17, 2017)

You’ve got some of the biggest names in superheroes all gathered on the big screen. Having the Justice League appear for the first time in live action is definitely going to be a sight to see for everyone young and old. Despite some of the criticisms Warner Brothers received after Batman v Superman, it’ll be interesting to see how they adapt and continue to progress in a positive direction. This trailer is definitely showing some real promise.

Star Wars: Episode VIII (December 15, 2017)

Okay, unfortunately there isn’t very much, or any, official movie posters nor trailers for this yet. But it’s star Wars! One of the most recognizable and popular movie franchises there is. There are a lot of questions that have yet to be answered like:
“Who is Snoke?”
“Why was Rey so proficient at using the Force?”
“Luke, are you the father?!”
Not to mention that the unexpected passing of Carrie Fisher will definitely have all of us in our feelings as we remember her contributions to the franchise and more. According to Collider, Carrie already wrapped up her scenes for Episode 8, and was slotted for an even bigger role moving forward. It may be bitter sweet, but that news alone can be more than enough to get us all excited for Star Wars: Episode VIII.
That’s all I’ve got for what to look forward to in 2017. I’m sure I may have missed some, so let me know what you think.
