Aaron Mahnke’s podcast ‘Lore’ pulls in millions of listeners each month. Amazon is looking to take that audience and build on it by turning the podcast into a series on the Amazon Prime streaming service.
The podcast, which takes a deep dive into the factual stories surrounding stories of the paranormal and the unknown. From real life horror stories, to the origins of vampires, zombies and other creatures, Lore has developed a huge following and listenership. Not only is Amazon getting ready to bring this unique podcast to life, but they have enlisted some heavyweight help behind the scenes.
In addition to Mahnke coming on as Executive Producer, The Walking Dead and Terminator producer Gale Anne Hurd will be Executive Producing through her Valhalla Entertainment company. Another paranormal television veteran is coming onto ‘Lore’ as showrunner. According to Deadline, The X-Files writer/producer Glen Morgan will shepherd the show to the streaming service.
The series has picked up Scorpion and Terminator 2: Judgement Day star Robert Patrick for an unnamed role. Also on board is Cathal Pendred as real life character from Irish folklore Michael Cleary. A cooper who is convinced that his newly financially liberated wife might be a mystical changeling and will do whatever it takes to prove it.
