This year’s Game Awards was one for the books. Kudos of Geoff Keighley for another fantastic awards show. We got to see Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus take the stage to reveal the latest trailer for Death Stranding, which left fans in awe and possibly confusion. Personally, I’ve never been more confused after watching a trailer yet still so excited to get my hands on it. Check out the full trailer below.
We also got to witness a hilarious rant from the director of A Way Out, Josef Fares as he sparked the hashtag of the night, #FuckTheOscars.
In the video shown above, Fares states ““The Oscars should fuck themselves up; this is the shit.”
He also got some applause as he took some shots at other games that have included loot boxes or ridiculous micro-transactions. Specifically the publisher for A Way Out, EA.
This is the thing, It doesn’t have anything with the EA shit going on, with the loot box and stuff. EA has been very good to me… all publishers fuck up sometimes. That’s just how it is.”
In case you’ve been living under a rock, EA has been under a lot of scrutiny for their loot boxes in Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé revealed that Bayonetta 1 and 2 would be making their way to the Nintendo Switch on February 16th. This had long been rumored for some time but Nintendo didn’t stop there. They also announced Bayonetta 3 is currently in development exclusively on the Nintendo Switch and left fans with a special teaser trailer shown below.
Another great announcement came from Bandai Namco as they revealed the trailer to the newest Soul Calibur entry, Soul Calibur VI. According to Bandai Namco, SoulCalibur VI will have an “epic” story mode, revamped gameplay mechanics, and “dynamic fights enhanced by cinematic-styled combat.”

Also, in honor of The Game Awards, PlayStation is currently hosting an impressive sale. I picked up Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for only $7.99. Check out their full Game Awards sale here.
And finally on to the actual awards, Nintendo cleaned up well with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild nabbing 3 awards. Super Mario Odyssey won Best Family Game and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle won Best Strategy Game. Cuphead walked away with three awards of it’s own, and well deserved too!
