Today, the long in-development film Justice League: Dark finally inched forward. According to The Tracking Board the film who has since lost writer and director Guillermo del Toro for Pacific Rim 2 has acquired a new producer in Scott Rudin. Rudin has produced such Oscar films like Inside Llewyn Davis, Captain Phillips and this years Steve Job s biopic. The producer is said to have convinced Warner Brothers to make the film a high priority on their ever growing film slate. With filming now expected to happen as early as 2016!
A small synopsis has appeared as well for the film:
“a series of ancient tomes stolen by a madman hellbent on the destruction of humanity. When he learns of this, occult detective John Constantine seeks out a group of heroes that specialize in the mystic and arcane in order to save the world.”
The site unfortunately reveals that WB is looking to cast a brand new John Constantine as compared to fan-favorite Matt Ryan (above) who portrayed the character in one season of Constantine on NBC and will return for an episode on this season of Arrow. But they also reveal that the characters in Justice League: dark while at first won’t be directed to the ever growing DC Expanded Universe but eventually down the line will indeed crossover! This opens up all new speculation regarding Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Sandman film which could very well end up also in the DC Expanded Universe but that’s clearly speculation at this point….
