Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that a “writers room” is being developed for the upcoming mash-up movie Godzilla vs. Kong headed by Pirates of the Caribbean scribe Terry Rossio.  This is the latest and most effective way studios are doing to developed a cohesive cinematic universe.

It was announced by Legendary several Comic-Con’s ago that after the success of 2014’s Godzilla and during production of Kong: Skull Island that the two behemoths would eventually share the same screen. The writer room includes Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), Lindsey Beer (The Kingkiller Chronicles), Cat Vasko (Queen of the Air), T.S. Nowlin (Maze Runner, Pacific Rim: Uprising), and J. Michael Straczynski (World War Z). Then, whichever film idea is most widely received will be announced as the writer for the project.

Currently, Kong: Skull Island is tracking well in its opening weekend. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is entering production soon starring Kyle Chandler and Millie Bobby Brown.
