Amazon’s ‘Lord of The Rings’ Series Is Expected To Return To New Zealand

Aug 16, 2018

Omega Underground has a production update concerning Amazon’s Lord of The Rings series as Amazon are now eyeing a return to New Zealand, which was the production location of all six previous Middle-Earth movies.

Nothing says any deal has been made with Weta Workshop or Peter Jackson, but it does give the impression they understand New Zealand needs to be part of the production.

We have our fingers crossed they will indeed have Weta work on this series considering how important they are to this franchise.

It was recently announced that Jungle Cruise, Star Trek: Beyond, and Star Trek 4 screenwriters JD Payne and Patrick McKay would be penning the series.

The reported budget of the series is $1 billion.

A release date hasn’t been made official but they are hoping to have it ready for 2020-2021.
