Admittedly, I am a huge fan of American Horror Story. I have dived in head first to every season of the hit series on FX and even the ones that weren’t my favorite had a charm and energy to them that kept me engaged.
The marketing and lead up to the upcoming season of the anthology series has been interesting to say the least. After hearing from the show’s creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy that the series would be inspired by last year’s election, I remained unprepared for the imagery and viral marketing that AHS has provided for this year’s season titled “Cult”. Do yourself a favor and check out AHS.com.
Murphy spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his upcoming season; “[Cult is] about illuminating and highlighting people who don’t have a voice in our culture — people who are ignored by the current administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away.”
The 11 episode season will only use the election as a jumping off point for the rest of the series. Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will return to the series along with Mare Winningham, Frances Conroy, Adina Porter and Emma Roberts. Joining the cast will be AHS newcomers Billy Eichner, Colton Haynes, Leslie Grossman and Lena Dunham.
