Sony’s ‘Venom 2′ now has Stephen Graham onboard the cast, in an unknown role.
This year, Graham was in Dexter Fletcher’s ‘Rocketman’ and Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman.’ Other credits include Guy Ritchie’s ‘Snatch,’ Michael Mann’s ‘Public Enemies,’ and Tomas Alfredson’s ‘ Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.’ Next, he will appear in FX’s ‘A Christmas Carol,’ premiering December 19th, and ITV/HBO Max’s ‘White House Farm,’ premiering next year.
Meanwhile, Tom Hardy (‘The Revenant,’ ‘Dunkirk’) will reprise his roles of both Eddie Brock and the titular character Venom. Michelle Williams (‘Manchester by the Sea,’ ‘Fosse/Verdon’) and Woody Harrelson (‘True Detective,’ ‘The Highwaymen’) are both coming back as well, for Anne Weying and Cletus Kasady/Carnage respectively. Naomie Harris (‘Moonlight,’ ‘Black and Blue’) will play Shriek, the sonic-powered accomplice and romantic interest of Carnage.
Moreover, Andy Serkis (‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle,’ ‘Breathe’) will be directing this time around, replacing Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer. The screenplay is from returning screenwriter Kelly Marcel (‘Saving Mr. Banks,’ ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’).
The crew comprises of both returning (bold) and new members:
- Cinematographer Robert Richardson (‘The Hateful Eight,’ ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’)
- Costume designer Joanna Eatwell (‘Taboo,’ ‘Carnival Row’)
- Production designer Oliver Scholl (‘Suicide Squad,’ ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’)
- Second unit director Brian Smrz (‘The Predator,’ ‘Dark Phoenix’)
- Special effects supervisor Caimin Bourne (‘The Current War,’ ‘Pennyworth’)
- Supervising art director Tom Brown (‘The Expendables 3,’ ‘Tomb Raider’)
- Visual effects supervisor Sheena Duggal (‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘Agent Carter’)
Further, filming is currently underway, and will wrap February, in Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, England.
‘Venom 2’ is aiming to release on October 2, 2020.
