Andy Serkis’ ‘Venom 2’ Enlists Cinematographer Robert Richardson (‘Hugo,’ ‘The Hateful Eight’)

Aug 16, 2019

With Andy Serkis onboard to direct Sony’s ‘Venom 2,’ he will be bringing aboard cinematographer Robert Richardson.

This film will serve as a reunion, as Richardson shot Serkis’ sophomore film ‘Breathe.’ He recently did Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’ Other credits include Oliver Stone’s ‘Natural Born Killers,’ Martin Scorsese’s ‘Hugo,’ and Tarantino’s ‘The Hateful Eight.’

Serkis was also the director of ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle,’ which went from Warner Bros. to Netflix last year.

Meanwhile, Tom Hardy (‘The Revenant,’ ‘Dunkirk’) will reprise his roles of both Eddie Brock and the titular character Venom. Michelle Williams (‘Manchester by the Sea,’ ‘Fosse/Verdon’) and Woody Harrelson (‘True Detective,’ ‘The Highwaymen’) are both expected to come back as well, for Anne Weying and Cletus Kasady/Carnage respectively.

Moreover, the screenplay is from returning screenwriter Kelly Marcel (‘Saving Mr. Banks,’ ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’).

Further, filming is aiming to begin this November. It is unclear where they will shoot the film this time around.

‘Venom 2’ is looking to release on October 2, 2020.
