‘Ant-Man’ Director Peyton Reed Interested In A ‘Hank Pym’ Prequel Film

Jul 3, 2015

To much of the Marvel audience surprise the first Ant-Man film in the MCU won’t actually have fan-favorite Hank Pym don the famous shape shifting suit but his protege Scott Lang. In this film Hank Pym has hung-up the suit for decades after an accident with his beloved wife Janet Van Dyne and practically despises most heroes. But while promoting the recent film director Peyton Reed reveals that he is actually interested in possibly doing a prequel film focused on a young Hank Pym:

“Listen, if we were lucky enough to be able to do a sequel or even a prequel, I’d be way into it,” said Reed. “I’ve really fallen in love with these characters. I was always in love with the characters in the comic book world but there’s a lot of story to tell with Hank Pym.”

A great actor to cast as a young Hank Pym should definitely be fan-favorite Patrick Wilson. Patrick Wilson who is known for his role in Watchmen and the Insidious films was actually already cast in Marvel’s Ant-Man before dropping out around the time Edgar Wright dropped out. So obviously he was interested in this world before hand but left do to scheduling conflicts. It was never reported which character he was cast as but it’s been highly rumored to be either Corey Stoll’s villainous Darren Cross or actually Hank Pym in the past. Bringing him back in his own Hank Pym film is pretty much a no brainier…

This would actually give Marvel an excuse to also bring back to the screen fan-favorites Agent Carter, Dum Dum Dugan, Howard Stark, young Nick Fury and young Alexander Perice all set in the 60s.

Ant-Man hits this July!
