Generative AI startup Anthropic has raised $450m in a Series C funding round led by Spark Capital, with participation from Zoom among others. This brings the total venture capital investment in Anthropic to $1.45bn in just a few years. The company’s chatbot, Claude, is seen as an alternative to OpenAI and ChatGPT. Anthropic’s ambitions include extending the reach and technical functions of Claude and designing personalised generative AI assistants. The company has also widened the chatbot’s context window from 9,000 tokens to 100,000 tokens, enabling it to process and remember around 75,000 words at once.
