Asian Superhero Shang-Chi Might Be Apart of ‘Iron Fist’ Series and Could Land His Own Show

Mar 4, 2016

A new video report from The Hashtag Show (along with MCU Exchange) reveals that we’ll be getting another martial arts superhero in the upcoming Iron Fist series.

They say that Marvel’s first martial arts hero Shang-Chi The Master of Kung Fu will be apart of the show. The character is the son of the evil iconic villain Fu Manchu (it’ll be interesting if they’ll end up using that villain at all). Also, if the character is well received by fans, Shang-Chi could get his own series like we pointed out last week.

Adding that Marvel is looking at indeed casting an Asian actor in the role.

Some names that could be interesting if Marvel considered them, include Byung Hun Lee (I Saw The Devil, Red 2, G.I. Joe 1-2, Terminator: Genisys), Rick Yune (Fast and Furious, Olympus Has Fallen, Iron Fists, Marco Polo, Ninja Assassin), Will Yun Lee (The Wolverine, Red Dawn, True Blood, Strike Back), and Sung Kang (Bullet To The Head, Fast and Furious 6, War, Live Free or Die Hard, Mystery Men, Ninja Assassin).

The source previously go ahold of the character list which could have included fellow Fist Orson Randall. Along with learning that Finn Jones had landed the Danny Rand role before the trades confirmed that scoop. It’s very likely they’ve nailed this character news as well.

We’ve been hearing rumblings that The Defenders could be some sort of adaptation of Shadowland, which Shang-Chi was apart of. If this turns out to be true, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him join the street-level superhero team.

Who would you cast in the role?
