“I’m assuming you didn’t come all the way to Earth-3 to stop my Trickster,” states Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp), oh no Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) comes bearing, self-proclaimed deities, and West family stakes; both make a rogue Trickster seem harmless. “The Present” (3×09) is a seamless midseason finale that contains a Christmas ghost, a Philosopher’s… Continue reading The Flash Flashpoint: The Present (3×09)

First and foremost I am a TV/Film nerd.
Secondly, I am a SceneNNerd writer/blogger/podcaster.
At the end of the day, I am a small town Alaskan girl.
In 2012 I graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a BA in Broadcast Journalism. I have aspired to be a writer ever since I became the editor of my high school yearbook. I fell in love with film as a child. My family would always rent movies on the weekend and afterwards breakdown the plot. I have been an avid reader ever since my Harry Potter obsession in elementary school.
In college I took a film noir class that changed my perspective on the film/TV medium. I discovered that I could break down a single shot on the screen, just like how I would approach breaking down a sentence in a book. I have been hooked ever since. A good TV show, or film tells a great story. A great TV show, or film includes nuances and subtext that can be explored by nerds like me.
The Flash Flashpoint: DCTV Invasion! Crossover
“You know you look beautiful. The weight of all these worlds on your shoulders,” explains Mon-El (Chris Wood), before fulfilling the dreams of all Karamel shippers and kissing Kara. Supergirl “Medusa” (2×08) is a fifty-fifty split between romantic entanglements, and a chapter about disillusionment. The episode not only features Karamel development, but Alex Danvers (Chyler… Continue reading The Flash Flashpoint: DCTV Invasion! Crossover
The Flash Flashpoint: Killer Frost (3×07)
“Killer Frost” (3×07) picks up right where “Shade” (3×06) left off; Wally(Keiynan Lonsdale) has been turned into one of Dr. Alchemy’s husks, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) is suppressing her inner meta-human, and Barry (Grant Gustin) meets a self-proclaimed God. “You are only a man, but I am a God, your God, I am Savitar,” and… Continue reading The Flash Flashpoint: Killer Frost (3×07)
The Flash Flashpoint: Shade (3×06)
“Shade” (3×06) features a slew of characters, yet it’s titular villain is put away at the end of act two. The Flash writers instead focus on developing arcs for our already established characters, like Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) who continues to dream about being a speedster; literally. Meanwhile, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) finally admits to… Continue reading The Flash Flashpoint: Shade (3×06)
Arrow Re-Nocked: Human Target (5×05)
“Human Target” (5×05) is probably among the best directed Arrow episodes to date. Between the dutch angle close-ups, and turnaround shots, the cinematography builds tension in an episode that contains few action scenes. Following the events in “Penance” (5×04), we quickly find Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) taking a merciless beating from Tobias Church (Chad L… Continue reading Arrow Re-Nocked: Human Target (5×05)
The Flash Flashpoint: Monster (3×05)
“Monster” (3×05) is a well executed villain of the week story that explores different perspectives on power through ancillary characters. Overall, the episode plays like a Buffy The Vampire Slayer tale, with the metaphorical relationship between the monster villain and adolescent feelings of powerlessness. A giant monster terrorizes Central City, but it’s a threat born… Continue reading The Flash Flashpoint: Monster (3×05)
Watch Super Short Film Sidekick
The short film Sidekick is a simplistic family drama, told through the lens of classic superhero storytelling. In an interview with IGN director Jeff Cassidy explains, “It was the real world story that attracted me to these characters and how they deal with the hardship that they’re confronted with and how that affects the relationship… Continue reading Watch Super Short Film Sidekick
