Bad Boys 3 aka Bad Boys For Life is starting to gear up as it looks like it will finally shoot soon. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back with new directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah behind the wheel taking over for Michael Bay.
We have a bit of a production update to share.
New crew additons includes production designer Stijn Verhoeven, art director Guy Barnes, and stunt coordinator Ben Hernandez Bray. A clear sign that pre-production on the action flick has begun as they tend to be some of the first early hires in the prep process.
While it has been reported by trades that Sony is aiming to get cameras rolling by August, we assume that they’ll want to give Will Smith a bit of breather who’ll be wrapping Ang Lee’s sci-fi action flick Gemini Man in July.
Filming was set to take place in Miami and Atlanta, we assume Sony will start filming in the fall or winter.
There is word that Suicide Squad 2 as been pushed deep into next year as Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey is eyeing a January production start taking the DCU sequel’s spot in the production lineup. This gives Smith more wiggle room to make Bad Boys For Life.
Once we get concrete production dates we’ll will update.
Sony has set the release date for January 17th, 2020.
