Yesterday, it was announced (via Business Insider UK) that the BBC will be developing a TV Series based on the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto video game series. This comes as a shock since video game adaptions have not gotten a good rap in Hollywood as of late with the likes of Prince of Persia or Max Payne not being huge hits. The landscape of good video game movies may change though with this years Agent 47 based on the Hitman series or Duncan Jones upcoming Warcraft film based on World of Warcraft. Also Project Casting goes onto to reveal that this adaption will not be an ongoing TV Series but a TV Movie event (Mini Series sounds like a better idea). No word on which game the movie will take place be it Liberty City, San Andreas or Los Santos. This TV Movie may end up being very controversial based on the games humorous and violent depictions of drugs, prostitutes and gang wars.
