Ben Affleck Doesn’t Want To Jam A Mediocre ‘Batman’ Movie Down Your Pipe

Dec 13, 2016

There’s been a lot of talk regarding when Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie will hit screens. With fans eagerly awaiting official news to be released by either Warner Bros. or Affleck himself on the matter.

A few indications have hinted that The Batman will be released in late 2018. With the recent news that Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2 was being pushed back by Warner Bros so the studio could focus on next solo Dark Knight film. Also chiming in on when filming will begin are a couple of Affleck’s co-stars (those being Joe Manganielloand Jeremy Irons) who have hinted that filming will begin on The Batman in summer/spring of 2017.

During a recent chat with The New York Times Affleck gave another update on his upcoming Batman film, reiterating he’s making sure the script is right before going ahead with shooting the film.

“We still have to get a screenplay and get it together. I’m a real believer in not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date, but rather when you get the right story, the right idea, the right thing, then you make the movie. That’s what we’re doing, and I’m hoping to get that done. I’m spending a lot of time working on that, but also working on other stuff.”

Affleck continued:

“If I could, there’s nothing I’d love more than to direct a stand-alone iconic, great Batman movie. But it’s been done. Chris Nolan did three really great movies. I’m really mindful of that. I’m not in any hurry to jam the mediocre movie down the pipe. I really want to make sure, if we do it, we get the great version and one that’s worthy of tradition of guys like Tim Burton, Chris Nolan, and Christian Bale.”

Watch the interview below:

Affleck is a fine filmmaker and what he’s doing to ensure that The Batman is in great shape before camera’s start rolling is appreciable to us the fans. He know’s there a few things that need ironed out and he’s not willing to roll over to pressure from the studio.

Ben Affleck will next be seen as Batman in the Justice League which hits screens November 17, 2017.
