After weeks of rumors and speculation that Ben Affleck will direct as well as star in a solo Batman film he cowrote with DC writer: Geoff Johns. WB studio head Kevin Tsujihara talked to film owners at Cinema-Con 2016 confirming the speculation was true, stating: “It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020,” said Tsuijhara. “I’m also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie.”
With the assumption that Affleck will direct this film, many Batman fan’s who follow the film industry are expecting maybe the best Batman on film since Christopher Nolan’s 2008 masterpiece The Dark Knight. Why? Ben Affleck is an insanely talented academy award winning director, famous for directing films such as: Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and his best picture winner Argo. At this point many around hollywood would consider Affleck a better director than an actor due his ability to successfully direct such a wide range of projects.
The question now becomes when can we expect this film? Considering this confirmation comes shortly after WB added two new film dates for unknown DC projects to their slate in the Fall’s of 2018 and 2019, I bet on seeing the Batfleck on one of those dates. On a complete geek tangent wouldn’t it be so cool to see a Batman film set during Halloween like the Arkham Knight video game game was, and have it hit theaters in October?
