We’ve been championing Benedict Wong (Prometheus, Marco Polo) joining the Marvel cinematic universe for a while now, along with suggesting Benedict Cumberbatch for the role of Doctor Strange back in early 2012.
Actually, we sort of brought-up the character of Wong to Benedict on Twitter ages before he ended up being cast in the film. We’d like to think we pushed him into that direction and will take 100% of the credit if his performance is off-the-hook.
is it too on-the-nose to want to see British actor @wongrel play Wong in @DrStrange? @Marvel @scottderrickson pic.twitter.com/ooYZLoZZjL

During an interview with Comic Book, the British actor revealed that he’ll be returning as Wong in Avengers: Infinity War, the assumption alongside Cumberbatch’s Strange. He also declared his obsession with Spider-Man comics as well.
“I’m thrilled I’m going to be in Infinity War. I’m looking forward to, I’ll tell you that one first.”
It’s starting to look like Wong is going to be our first full-fledged Asian superhero in the cinematic universe and we’re thrilled.
Production on the film begins next month in Atlanta.
