Finally, we have some awesome trade movie news to share. As the Wrap reports that Oscar winning actor Benicio del Toro is eyed for the villain role in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars Episode VIII. The film written and directed by Johnson will continue the adventures that will play-out in The Force Awakens.

You might remember before joining Guardians of The Galaxy, Benicio had been in the mix to play Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness, before Benedict Cumberbatch landed the role. Being apart of the Disney family has it’s perks and his addition to the cast should help continue the Lucasfilm trend of hiring a diverse cast.

While his character isn’t being named, but it wouldn’t be hard to imagine it would be some sort of version of Thrawn. A Darth Vader level villain who spanned a trilogy of books, who may end-up being cherry-picked for the films.

Episode VIII will drop on May 26th, 2017.
