Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Legendary has found their female lead in Detective Pikachu opposite Justice Smith. According to the report Big Little Lies breakout star Kathryn Newton has been cast in the role of Lucy. Lucy along with her own Pokemon Psyduck is a junior investigative reporter trying to uncover the truth behind captured Pokemon turning wild on their trainers.
This confirms Omega Underground’s original report from October regarding the two human leads. Justice Smith would be playing the role of Tim. Who is accompanied by a talking Pikachu who happens to also be a detective himself. Also, only Tim can somehow understand this sarcastic Pikachu. And they are trying to learn the truth behind Tim’s missing father who is a Pokemon scientist.
